He is currently the director of the Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) in Berlin and Professor of Molecular Pharmacology at Freie Universität Berlin. The prize includes 2.5 million euros in funding for further research.
Presented on March 19th in Berlin, the award honors Haucke's groundbreaking research on endocytosis in nerve cells and its critical role in synaptic signal transmission. His work has led to the development of inhibitors targeting lipid metabolism, which could pave the way for new therapeutic applications.
Prof. Dr. Volker Haucke joined the SPARK-BIH program in 2020 with a project aimed at developing first-in-class small molecules for the treatment of neuromuscular diseases and stroke. We are very pleased to witness his success and are proud to have him in our network!
