Are you performing clinical trials or collecting health related data from other sources?

Gender medicine is gaining increasing importance: The research community, funding organizations, and the general public have become more aware of the considerable data gaps regarding sex/gender and diversity and that better study designs and research tools have become available. However, the question remains: How can we overcome these biased practices, and how can they lead to more diversified innovations?

In this SPARK Europe WebinarSeries, Prof. Dr. Gertraud (Turu) Stadler, professor for gender sensitive prevention research and director of the Institute Gender in Medicine at Charité Berlin will present the hallmarks of sex and gender in medical research. Professor Stadler's research lies at the intersection of psychology and public health: She has recently developed a Diversity Minimal Item Set, which enables comparative diversity assessments and can be implemented in a wide range of clinical studies.

After this talk, you will know about:

  • What is the gender data gap?
  • Why is gender medicine relevant for translational projects?
  • How can I incorporate gender and diversity-sensitive assessment into my research practices?
  • How can awareness of sex/gender differences improve health care?
